Empowering Women, Building Resilience
July 8, 2025Food + weekend = feasting and joy.
Right?
But. Cook clean.
Here is why:
In Uganda, indoor air pollution, primarily from cooking stoves using wood and charcoal, is a significant contributor to premature deaths, with an estimated 13,000 deaths annually. An NREP report indicates that over 90% of Ugandans rely on firewood and charcoal for cooking. Pollution arising from these cooking fuels leads to various respiratory illnesses and other health problems, especially among vulnerable populations like women and children. Around the world, daily cooking responsibilities are largely held by women and girls. Clean cooking can ease the health problems and economic burdens that disproportionately impact them.
Cook clean this weekend.
