Clean Air for All: Why It Matters

Time to Break the Silence on Mental Health
September 11, 2025Education is not just a human right; it is a powerful tool for empowerment and transformation, particularly for women and girls who hold the key to breaking cycles of poverty in our communities.
Yet, the reality in Uganda tells a different story. As of 2022, 43% of learners, many of them girls, drop out of primary school before completing it. Poverty, gender discrimination, and harmful social norms drive this crisis, leaving the country’s illiteracy levels at 26% (UBOS, 2024).
The cost of this loss is not only borne by the girls themselves but also by families, communities, and the nation’s future.
On Protect Education from Attack Day, we renew our call to action, ensuring every girl completes all levels of education, creating safe, inclusive, and dignified learning environments, and equipping girls with the life and career skills they need to succeed.
Education for girls is not charity; it is justice, equity, and the surest path to a brighter future for all.
Let us protect education and empower every girl to learn, lead, and succeed.
