IDPD2025: Let’s invest in, include, protect, and empower PWDs
December 3, 2025More women across the world are facing rising levels of violence, poverty, and hunger.
In Uganda, the situation is even more alarming for women-headed households, as they experience these vulnerabilities at significantly higher rates, with nearly 50% affected, calling for an urgent need for coordinated, systematic, and well-resourced interventions.
Vulnerable communities, especially those led by women, require sustained technical and financial support to build economic resilience strong enough to withstand climatic disruptions, health crises, and social shocks.
Targeted livelihood support, access to credit, climate-smart agriculture, protection services, and community-based safety nets are not optional, as empowering women is a strategic investment in every community’s social and economic future.
