Put Resilience at the Centre of Climate and Development Action

Vulnerable communities suffer most when disasters strike, losing homes, loved ones, gardens, livelihoods, and hope.

Yet, they are also the first responders and key to building resilience.

Disasters aren’t inevitable.

Natural hazards, for example, become disasters when poor planning, urbanization, and environmental degradation increase vulnerability.

On this International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, we call on stakeholders and partners to put resilience at the centre of climate and development action.
