Education: A Right and a Path to Empowerment
September 11, 2025Globally, over 1 billion live with mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression (United Nations). Yet, mental health remains critically underfunded and overlooked, especially in Uganda, where less than 1% of the health budget is dedicated to mental health care.
Vulnerable groups, particularly women, bear the heaviest burden. Beyond biological factors, women face gender-based violence, poverty, and cultural stigma that worsen mental health challenges and limit access to care.
It is time to prioritize mental health, break the stigma, and invest in accessible, quality support for all. By doing so, we move closer to achieving SDG 3: Good health and well-being by 2030.
Join us in advocating for mental health for everyone, because care is a right, not a privilege.
